Cynthia started her career by modeling in New York. After signing a contract lasting 5 years with the company, she was able to make a splash as cover girl of Essence Magazine. Not only was Cynthia's first cover for Essence one of the highest-selling covers in the magazine's history, it was also a personal favorite of then editor-in-chief Susan Taylor. Cynthia landed her second magazine cover soon after and this set the scene for her successful career. After that, she travelled towards Paris and Milan. She was on the runway for Paris Fashion Week as well as Milan Fashion Week. Cynthia was able to move to New York City after living overseas for almost a full year. Her campaign included Maybelline Oil of Olay Macy's. Magazine editorials for Vogue, Glamour, Elle, Essence and Vanity Fair were soon to follow.
